The Whomp King is a giant Whomp that appears as a character in the Super Mario Series. As the name suggests, he is the king of the Whomps, and presumably is also a member of the Koopa Troop.

Super Mario 64[]
The Whomp King first appears in Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, where he is fought as a boss in Whomp's Fortress. He is encountered on top of the main tower, where he makes a short speech before engaging Mario in battle. He fights like a regular Whomp, walking towards the player before falling face-first in an attempt to crush them. The player must Ground Pound his back three times to defeat him, causing him to explode and release his Power Star.
The Whomp King in this game lacks many of his distinguishing features, merely being a larger Whomp.
